NC Maintenance Mode
Show visitors a clean "we'll be right back" page while you work on your site. Editors still see the real site, and search engines get the correct 503 status.
Description
Redesigning pages, running updates or migrating hosting? NC Maintenance Mode shows visitors a simple, professional maintenance page while you and your team keep working on the real site.
Features
- Turn maintenance mode on or off with a single checkbox
- Custom headline, message, contact email and accent colour
- Logged-in users who can edit posts see the normal website
- Returns HTTP 503 with a Retry-After header — the correct signal to search engines that downtime is temporary
- Never blocks the login page, admin area, AJAX, cron or REST API
- Automatic light and dark versions of the page
- Admin bar reminder while maintenance mode is on
Why the 503 status matters
If a maintenance page returns a normal “200 OK” status, search engines may index it in place of your real pages. A 503 tells them the site is temporarily unavailable and to come back later, protecting your rankings.
